Safety Watch
The goal of electrical safety watching is to constantly identify and prevent problems from occurring in the first place. At the same time preparations are made to safely resolve any issue that do happen in the safest way possible.
Some of the electrical safety watching tasks can include
Identifying low-voltage versus high-voltage
Ensuring proper Signage and Flags are in place when necessary
Limiting exposure to hazardous situations
Identifying step potential, touch potential scenarios
Ensuring proper distances are kept between workers and equipment and power systems (Limits of Approach)
Watching moving equipment / equipment on the job site in relation to the power system / systems present
We follow regulations set out for safety standards within the field of electricity. WorksafeBC has a booklet that helps explain the dangers of working around electricity, on energized low-voltage equipment, and near high-voltage conductors. These BC electrical safety standards include:
Common low-voltage electricity problem areas, and safe work practises
Common high-voltage electricity problem areas, and safe work practises
What to do when an electrical injury happens
Drone Inspection
Unmanned aerial inspections and surveys of difficult to access structures allow for safe, efficient and high quality visual and sensor assessments of transmission and distribution towers and power lines, or as a damage assessment tool. TCUS Drones deliver comprehensive close visual inspection and significantly improve safety by reducing ‘at height’ working and limiting exposure to live powerlines.
